How to register as a psychologist in Australia?
- Study a four-year undergraduate degree in psychology. You can do either a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) or a three-year Bachelor of Psychological Science followed by a Graduate Diploma of Psychology (Advanced). Ensure the degrees you study are accredited by the APAC (Australian Psychology Accreditation Council).
- Register provisionally as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia, before completing two years of study in an APAC-approved Master of Psychology (Clinical).
- Apply for general registration as a Psychologist. All practising psychologists in Australia must be registered with the Psychology Board of Australia under the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme.
- To be eligible for an Area of Practice Endorsement (AoPE) in clinical psychology, you must complete a two-year registrar program that involves supervised professional practice and completion of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
